Come celebrate the unboxing of Issue One of Longshot Magazine.
Over a 48 hour period from noon August 27, 2010, through noon August 29, 2010, hundreds of writers, editors, artists, photographers, programmers, videographers, and other creatives from all around the world came together via the Internet, and in offices in Los Angeles, Portland, and San Francisco to make a magazine from start to finish.
Longshot magazine started as a media experiment in May 2010. 8,000 people signed up, 1,500 submissions came in, 35 editors selected 70 pieces to fill a 60-page magazine. People liked it. The magazine broke its distributor's sales records, and received positive reviews in The New York Times, PBS, and the Village Voice, and won a Knight-Batten Award for Innovation in Journalism.
