A distinguished panel of business, government and public affairs specialists will discuss the importance of the California State Legislature to foreign governments and international businesses and the benefits of active participation in the State legislative process. The panel of experts will include:
Dennis M. Sullivan, Esq.
Dennis Sullivan graduated with honors from Santa Clara University and Hastings College of the Law. He has extensive litigation experience in business and international transactions and is the Legal Advisor for the Consulates General of Switzerland and Germany. He served on the Executive Committee of the International Section of the California State Bar and has also served as a Court Arbitrator and Court Commissioner Pro Tem for Local and District Courts in Germany. He practices general corporate, tax and international law in San Francisco and also represents individuals in estate and trust matters.
Ray Miller
Ray Miller is the Senior Consultant to the Senate Select Committee on California-European Trade, the State Senate’s primary liaison with Europe’s California-based Consulates General and European trade organizations focusing on increased trade and investment with Europe. He is responsible for analyzing and monitoring all legislation pertaining to international trade introduced before the Legislature. He previously worked as a professional staff member to the California Legislature in a variety of public policy positions and, among other legislative posts, he worked as a top policy advisor to the Senate Majority Leader for eight years and as a consultant to a major Assembly policy committee.
Will Brown
Will Brown is recognized as an expert in the legislative and regulatory arenas throughout the West and Southwest, and particularly in the states of California, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon. His Sacramento-based firm – Will Brown Government & Public Affairs - specializes in providing senior-level strategic counsel and other advocacy services to corporate, public and non-profit clients in need of representation before state and local governments, and the federal government. Before moving into the field of government and public affairs, he served as principal staff consultant to the California Legislature’s Assembly Committee on Finance and Insurance. He also worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and as a legislative assistant to a member of Congress.
As a special bonus feature, City National Bank will present a short overview of the current state of the international currency markets as affected by events in the U.S. economy. This pre-program discussion will be presented by Kathy Schueler, Senior V.P. and foreign exchange dealer with City National Bank’s International Department.
