Q: How is swissnex San Francisco managed?

A: swissnex San Francisco is an initiative of Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Education and Research (SER), managed in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs as an annex of the Consulate General of Switzerland in San Francisco. Vital financial support is provided by donors and sponsors sharing swissnex San Francisco's committment to connecting the dots.
 

Q: How many people work there?

A: Our building hosts various groups and organizations in addition to our 11-person core team. Visit our People page for a full list.

 

Q: Can I rent a workspace in your building?

A: Depending on your goals, the type of organization you represent, and the field you work in, we would like to examine the possibility of sharing our space with you. Please contact us to discuss the various long- and short-term options.

 

Q: How is swissnex San Francisco financed?

A: We are financed by public and private funds from Switzerland and the U.S. See our Sponsors and Donors page to learn more.

 

Q: I want to get in contact with you, but I don’t have a definite project yet. What should I do?

A: We are always happy to brainstorm and find out more about you—please do not hesitate to contact us.

 

Q: How many events do you organize on average?

A: Between four to eight events per month. Visit our events page to see past and upcoming events.

 

Q: Does swissnex San Francisco do anything besides host and organize events?

A: Yes! We do so much, from working closely with Swiss and North American universities to increase collaboration and knowledge-sharing, to connecting artists, scientists, and innovators between Switzerland and North America, to providing office space and networking opportunities for Swiss start-ups, communicating Swiss excellence to the public, and more. Q: I am looking for a job in the U.S., can swissnex San Francisco help?

A: Although swissnex does not provide support on an individual basis, our activities create opportunities to network and meet new people. Sign up to receive our event listings, subscribe to our news feeds, and find out what being a part of the swissnex San Francisco community is all about. You can also check our resources pages for more information about Switzerland, the U.S., and Canada.

 

Q: I am a Swiss citizen and would like to /visit/move to/work in the U.S. Can swissnex help me get a visa?

A: No, we cannot provide U.S. visas. For more information, please contact your local U.S. Embassy or Consulate, or visit www.immigration.gov.


Q: I am American/Canadian and would like to visit/move to/work in Switzerland. Can you help?

A: Please contact the Consulate General of Switzerland in your geographic area for information as well as visa procedures.


Q: Can I rent your event space?

A: If your event and organization align with the mission and goals of swissnex San Francisco, we would be happy to discuss co-hosting an event with you in our space. Please contact us to discuss.

 

Q: I am a student and would like to study and/or do an internship in the U.S. Can you help?

A: We do not place interns and cannot provide specific information about admissions at U.S. universities. Visit our resources pages to learn more about academic institutions in our region and in Switzerland. If you are interested in swissnex San Francisco’s internship program or are looking to establish a university outpost in our office, please contact us.

 

Q: Can swissnex San Francisco help me expand my business into Switzerland?

A: We would be happy to refer you to various Swiss economic promotion agencies and make an introduction. Please contact us.

 

Q: Can you help me expand my Swiss business into North America?

A: We work closely with many high-tech organizations, startups, and established companies interested in leveraging our close ties in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley. Contact us to discuss how we might be able to work together. For businesses outside our areas of expertise, we are happy to refer you to helpful organizations including the Swiss Business Hub, which helps Swiss companies doing business in the Americas.

 

Q: I am an artist and would like to exhibit my work at swissnex. How can I do this?

A: We are very active at the intersections of art, technology, education, and innovation, and we have a strong program and history of working with artists and creative thinkers. However, swissnex San Francisco is not an art gallery and our event space is not open to the public beyond our event schedule. We would like to hear from you if you think our mission and yours align, so please contact us.

 

Q: I am a professor or researcher at a Swiss or North American university and I will be traveling to San Francisco. Can I visit swissnex San Francisco, use your office, speak at one of your events, or tap into your network of experts in my field?

A: We are always looking to make new connections in academia here in North America, in Switzerland, and beyond. Contact us to explore how we can work together.
