CTI Start-up Dacuda, based at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich), creates a handy (wink wink) solution for your digitizing needs: a scanner embedded in a computer mouse.
In August of 2010, Dacuda’s CTO, Alexander Ilic, brought his technology to swissnex San Francisco for the second time, using the swissnex office and network as a home base in the Bay Area while meeting with potential partners in the Silicon Valley.

Dacuda aims to solve the digitizing problem without extra hardware by using what people already have—a mouse. Some 300 million of them are sold each year despite the rise of tablets and other devices. Dacuda’s technology incorporates a low-cost digital camera into a mouse and applies their special algorithms to stitch the video streams together. With a simple click, graphs, photos, and text are instantly accessible on the screen and easy to edit in applications such as Word.
