Read what people have to say about swissnex San Francisco and give us your feedback.

I just wanted to thank you so much for the wonderfully organized and very informative [study] trip [to Switzerland]. It has been one of the best experiences of my life and I got a lot out of it. I met a lot of very interesting people, and learned so much about Switzerland that I will take with me wherever I go. Thank you for all the effort you put into it.

That hip-hop event last night at swissnex was really outstanding. I had a great time, and saw Switzerland in a completely different light.

Greg Niemeyer, UC Berkeley (2009)

swissnex meetings bring together a unique mix of people from all over the world. From chocolate and yoga to clean tech and the world economy—whatever the hot topic, swissnex is addressing it with a timely and fun event in a relaxed atmosphere.

I receive the swissnex twitter feed so I feel very well-informed about the events and news from swissnex.

Jason Veitzer, OneBison, San Francisco (2009)

Thanks again for organizing yesterday's event celebrating the startup of the LHC! I was particularly thrilled by the fact that so many of the Bay Area's key players involved in this project were there. Because of them and their excitement, one could really feel why this was such a big moment in science history. Through this and the live link to Geneva even us ‘outsiders’ could be part of that, which was great! Aside from that, it was an unexpectedly (given that I am not in particle physics) great networking opportunity—I met several people who are very valuable contacts for my own research.

Peter Kolb, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, UC San Francisco, (2008)

Thank you for your energy and effort in helping us to extend our contacts in Canada. Without such help our work would have been much more difficult. The meeting in Vancouver was very productive and we are now further in our endeavors to promote our university in British Columbia. I am very much looking forward to working with you in 2009.

Robert Buttery, Head International Relations, UAS Northwestern Switzerland, Olten, Switzerland (2008)

swissnex San Francisco is one of the first addresses I would recommend for Swiss startups to pay a visit. Birgit Coleman has one great mission: to connect people that can benefit from each other. She helped Amazee in many different ways and we met great people through her introduction. Every time we go to swissnex San Francisco we meet new interesting entrepreneurs and people. swissnex is very valuable in bringing people together that can help each other. swissnex San Francisco builds a bridge between Switzerland and Silicon Valley that makes these two worlds come together in a natural way.

Dania Gerhardt, Head Finance and Operations, Amazee, a CTI Start-up company, Zurich, Switzerland (2008)

I have been getting your email newsletters for a while now and enjoyed a number of events at the swissnex location on Montgomery. I especially liked the discussions about TV in the Internet age and the re-cap of the WEF in Davos. Thank you for all the work you and your team are putting into making swissnex what it is: a great place to exchange ideas.

Matthias Beckmann, Vice President, Thunder Factory, San Francisco (2008)

We were introduced to swissnex after our CTI labeling and late in our fund raising cycle, however from the first meeting and throughout our interaction with them, they were enormously helpful. With just a short explanation of our product, the market we work in and the financial needs, swissnex introduced to us half a dozen different contacts for funding. These contacts were knowledgeable and experienced in our precise business, which expedited subsequent discussions and enabled us to get to the important issues quickly. Furthermore, swissnex took every opportunity to get us together with their extensive network of experts and angels to see how we could be helped. On top of this we could book desk space in their offices and use it as a base for our visits, a great commodity for any start-up with business in and around the peninsula. If your start-up needs any help getting started in the valley, be that funding, business contacts or legal help, swissnex will definitely get you there quicker than anyone else that I know.

Jason Brown, Mimosys, a CTI Start-up company, Lugano, Switzerland (2008)

In Zurich we developed our unique solution, called inetoo (I NEE too)—a Web 2.0 learning intelligence platform. Once we filed patent in the US, CTI-Startup at swissnex San Francisco provided us office space and consultancy on how to penetrate the US market. Our key challenge was to identify and approach the appropriate investors and accessing the key technology providers in Silicon Valley. Thanks to Birgit Coleman from swissnex, we attended key investor and technology symposia, such as the Global Technology Symposium at Stanford University. During that event we got valuable feedback to further improve our business and access to potential investors. swissnex also helped us in establishing key relationships in India in order to identify software develop¬ment business partners.

Ahmed Abdulwahab, inetoo, a CTI Start-up company, San Francisco (2008)

Thanks again for the kind introductions you provided to your many contacts in the Bay Area. We have made immediate progress with Logitech, where some forthcoming products dovetail superbly with our products and technologies. We'll keep you apprised as the relationship progresses.

Brad Casemore, Spatial View Inc., Toronto (2008)

swissnex really does connect the dots. Here we have two regions – the West Coast and Switzerland – who are leaders in innovation for this wired generation. EPFL is at the forefront in communication, computer and life sciences – strengths that are mirrored in Silicon Valley. With swissnex as our ‘West Coast brain’, we can make the connection, and fuel further progress.

Patrick Aebischer, President, EPFL, Switzerland (2008)

The opportunity to visit and interact with people from outstanding universities and laboratories such as Berkeley, Stanford, Caltech, NASA Ames...allowed me to increase the visibility of our lab abroad and to improve my awareness of related research projects... The organization of this tour, co-sponsored by swissnex, ThinkSwiss, and EPFL/ETHZ, was exemplary and I can only encourage swissnex to continue fostering interactions between Swiss and Californian institutions.

Dr. Jean-Christophe Zufferey, EPFL, Switzerland (2008)

Before I came to swissnex I always thought that 'thinking outside the box' was an empty formula; however, after four months of internship I've seen this device filled with content when a guest walked in at 730 Montgomery street and was warmly welcomed by the swissnex team, who every time anew tried to understand who the person is, what she does, and how this could fruitfully be connected with other peoples’ work, all in the larger context of bridging Swiss and American knowledge. A thrilling concept! I very much appreciated both the fact that you let me join different meetings, formal and informal ones, like the one with the Canadian diplomats, and your small attentions throughout my stay—it made me feel welcome and taken seriously.

Larissa Tschudi, former intern, swissnex San Francisco (2008)

I wanted to let you know that one of our graduate students, Jérôme Glauser, who will start a Ph.D. with us in Geneva, is spending a few months in Ian Gotlib's lab at Stanford. This happened because we discussed collaborative research with Gotlib at the swissnex meeting. So, the dots are connected.

David Sander, National Center of Research in Affective Sciences, Geneva, Switzerland (2006)

swissnex is a credible, professional and objective organization that has connected my loose knots with their network more than once. There are few organizations that put such commitment and interest towards supporting tenants. Having an office at swissnex has proven to be extremely valuable; the amount of contacts, the targeted introductions for each of my projects and the amical environment contributed much to the success of each venture.

Alex Fries, Ecosystem Ventures (2006)

swissnex has the potential to help us to effectively reach Bay Area project partners and funders, so that we can create a sustainable base for the long term growth of our organization. swissnex with their track record and expertise in educational and information exchange, would be an ideal source of help in setting up our US operations. You offer us access to networks of individuals, organizations and institutions who have the potential to help us with research and development, program development, financial support and volunteer support.

Shachi D. Shantinath, Woman-to-Woman International, Switzerland (2005)

On behalf of the Government of Alberta, I would like to thank you for meeting with our delegation in San Francisco. I appreciated the opportunity to discuss technology trends in the Silicon Valley and to learn about swissnex's approach to marketing Switzerland's capabilities in science, education, art and innovation in the United States. In particular, I was impressed by the assistance you provide to Swiss scientists and scholars as they become established in the United States and by the breadth and frequency of special events held by your organization. I look forward to possibly attending one of your functions in the future. Best wishes for your continued success.

Drury Mason, Assistant Deputy Minister, Calgary, Canada (2004)

We are all deeply grateful for the opportunity to present Imaging Energy at swissnex. It was the highlight of our semester and a learning opportunity that will never be forgotten by the class members. You have created a remarkable organization, one that truly meets the goals of helping people connect just like the “dots” in your logo. Thank you.

Meredith Tromble, San Francisco Art Institute (2004)

swissnex fulfills an important role in linking the cultural and scientific uniqueness of Switzerland with the dynamic West Coast. New concepts that combine lifestyle and business are likely to emerge from these cross-continental partenerships, and as pioneers in our own world of design, being associated with swissnex is a logical step.

Yves Behar, President, fuseproject (2003)
