Archives: Register here Can good design solve urban problems? Join us for the closing night party of the Architecture and the City Festival, when four San Francisco design teams present their solutions to city challenges proposed by the government and civic leaders who can help make their ideas a reality. For the third year in a row, this popular event will tackle issues around the festival theme—this year, "Architecture of Consequence"—ranging from emergency preparedness to urban agriculture.
Watch as each team presents their solution to their “client” in front of a live audience. Afterwards, take part in a brief Q&A between the designers, urban leader, and the audience. These events often culminate in a lively discussion and debate about the future of cities, and make for a stimulating networking reception afterwards where all are encouraged to discuss new partnerships between citizens, designers, and urban leaders. Anything’s possible: Past collaborations between city leaders and designers have gone far beyond the event, working to make the solutions a reality. Enjoy a reception under the stars in Hotaling Alley with an outdoor lounge furnished by Propeller Modern and JOBY. Supported by AIA San Francisco, GOOD, Center for Architecture and Design, KALW Radio, and 99% Invisible. Sponsored by WoodsBagot, Barbara Scavullo Design, Bix Restaurant, swissnex San Francisco, and Trumer Pils. |
